Chateau 1771 was one of the first restaurants to open in the new Greenbelt 5. I had dined in its various outlets in the past including Sentro in Greenbelt 3 so I am quite familiar with its menu.
I recently had a reunion with my two good friends from the bank Bebette, now based in Honkong and Rita who is still with BPI. We all agreed to have dinner here but I was late since my car was on coding. They have ordered and finished their soup and salad when I arrived.
I had to order some hot soup as is staple in any of my main meal and the only one without cream was French onion soup. There is nothing special though in its taste.
For my main meal, since I was staying away from meat, I chose one of their chef recommendations which they call Prawn Butterly, described as stuffed with mushroom and cheese. When it arrived, it was just the good old prawns thermidor.
Bebette ordered Tilapia fillet since she has been missing this local fare and Rita some beef specialty.
There were lots of dessert choices but like Rita and Bebette was stuck to the tried and tested, Coffee Pie, made out of Chocolate-cashew crust with coffee filling topped with cream cheese and toffee sauce. If only for this you would like to keep coming back in this place.
There was a big party held in another side of the restaurant then. Rita overheard some girls complaining of the service but in our case all went well. We didnt have to follow up and our choice of meals were excellent.
